Riveting Stuff ? So I have a Blog

So I have a Blog. To this day, I can’t explain clearly why I chose “losdayaks” as a title to my inept blog. At the time, loosely ruminating through innumerable piles of potential titles, I came to the vague conclusion, that whenever someone embarks on a mean enterprise, whether writing a social critique, or discovering the Rosetta Stone by accident, or even abbreviating grandiose economic plans bordering on the utopia, justifying a title to suit the readable content becomes “part” of that enterprise. Identity is key to our inane need to self label, categorise and pigeon whole abstract works of art, or even the self belief of Madmen in the last Millennia. This is, I feel why I gave this blog, a very Un-English title. Essentially, I crave a little corner of the World Wide Web, where I could posit my thoughts, views and opinions, and later on, laugh at how vain I was. In a odd way, at the time, I hesitantly took to blogging like suicide to pavement.
“Los Dayaks” is an apt Spanish description of those who people Borneo’s Island. ‘Los’, equivalent meaning in English ‘The’ and ‘Dayaks’ , meaning the inhabitants of said Island. It’s confusing to say the least, but I’d like to dispel the claim that this blog is one about Dayaks, because, study of Dayak society is best left to more professional Anthropologists, whose work eventually I hope one day, eons in the future, will be carefully unearthed to reveal evidence of a cultured riverine-dwelling group of people, who possessed belief systems and customary practices of their own. The main content of this Blog, will not venture, anywhere near the cultural study of Dayaks but would focus solely on issues closer to my heart.
Beginning with the template wasn’t easy, I have temporarily chosen this sandy brown background. It serves its purpose, I suppose, considering this blog is purely experimental and anytime now, I am planning to upsticks and leave to a more congenial site in the World Wide Web. And Travel costs money. Which, somehow, led to various arguments with a few other bloggers.
Then, I put it to a girlfriend, some time ago, that this blog, for all intents and purposes, was dead. It was essentially of no use to anyone who came here to read my very few entries. Muddled by my indecision at the time as to what purpose the blog should serve, I thought briefly of scumbag entries, online pisstake diaries, filth bordering on the x rated, and clear instructions written in plain english on how to iron a shirt, convinced that my readers too can achieve this. Initially, the scope appeared endless, but as soon as I began, the blog went online, and I decided there and then, to limit it to just my views…………….obviously discounting the few comments and letters I sent to Raja Petra’s Malaysia Today Net.
Finally………………………What do we ever learn about Control ?
Why do some of us fight tooth and nail for it ??
Inevitably, we all crave for control. We do want some control in our lives, because, our innermost fear, is allowing others to decide our fate, and that simply must not do. If people ever surrender their fate to others, they consent to whatever can happen. That’s why I have not disabled the comments section. It’s for my readers to part all manner of suggestions and abuse, without any fear of me ever censoring them. I call it mental therapy. So with that, I now declare this blog “alive”.
